Medellin Libraries
Medellin has five universities and has always been a center of education in Colombia. The city has many beautiful libraries.
Five library parks
have been built in poorer parts of the city. All are architecturally well designed. We only visited the spectacular one - Parque Biblioteca España, which overlooks the city from the mountainside next to the Santo Domingo Metrocable station. Looking like a great stone monolith, it is actually made of bricks covered with a hard tar-like substance.

The EPM Technical Library in the city center is another architectural marvel. I have visited a lot of libraries in the US, including at a lot of major universities, and I have never seen a library as well designed as this one. I wish the pictures gave a true picture of the interior.
